Breadcrumbs For Everything and Anything!

Breadcrumbs For Everything and Anything!

Fun fact about me: I’m unknowingly forever using recipes that call for breadcrumbs, but always forgetting to buy them when I go the grocery store. I don’t know what it is. I just seem to bypass them, and if I do think of it I never know where to look for them and I just end up forgetting again. Lucky for me I literally always have bread in the house and I also have my handy Cuisinart food processor, which is all you need to make them.

I’m always looking for ways to enhance my cooking experience, so buying extra parts for my Cuisinart food processor is a must. I buy them from KitchenWorksInc. They sell authentic Cuisinart dfp-14 parts. Thankfully they are not aftermarket products, because who knows how that would go. I’m always ordering new things: different blades, larger bowls, bigger tubes for pushing food through, dough blades, etc. I could go on and on.

I use my Cuisinart food processor A LOT for many things, not just breadcrumbs. I do have to say though, that is one of my main uses for it. My baguette goes stale? Breadcrumbs. I forget to buy breadcrumbs and I have a loaf of bread sitting around? Toast it and make breadcrumbs. Really, homemade breadcrumbs are so much better than anything you can find at the grocery store.

Actually, if I’m honest, I don’t even bother to look for breadcrumbs in the stores anymore. I figure why bother when I can make my own and season them to my liking and they don’t have whatever preservatives that store bought bread crumbs have? Besides, no one in my house will eat the bread loaf ends, and they need to be put to good use. I freeze them until I have enough, I take them out and toast them and then make them into bread crumbs. Not much in my house goes to waste, especially not the bread.

The majority of bread that passes through my house will in some way shape or form become breadcrumbs. It’s such a versatile ingredient. They’re great in meatloaf, meatballs, putting on top of mac and cheese, stuffing or for breading anything, from chicken to fried green tomatoes. Clearly I really enjoy my breadcrumbs. I mean, how can I not when they’re so good on so many things?

It’s really cool that I have found a better way to make these different things for my family, while leaving out some of the more processed products. Looking back on how things were when I was a kid, I wonder how some of us have made it as far as we have. I feel really lucky to have a way to make things at home, rather than using the easy way out of buying the store bought version of things. It’s really a wonderful alternative to keep your family healthy.
